Week 3 & 4 (Blog Comments)

I commented on Berluche Prunier and Miguel Rodriguez's blog. On Berluche's Blog, I mentioned how I enjoyed his Cameo, Low-Angle, Reaction, and Perspective shot. I enjoyed his Cameo shot because he was in an all black outfit pressed against a white wall so he reversed the roles of what a cameo shot is. This makes viewers notice Berluche more because the contrast makes him pop. His Low- Angle shot allowed to building to give off more of a dramatic feel. The video makes viewers believe there's something intimidating and powerful about the building since it's being seen from the very bottom. The Reaction shot was enjoyable because Berluche's reaction to something off camera. Viewers get curious and get the vibe that he was reacting to something surprising. Finally, Berluche's Perspective shot draws attention to the action of his hand on the water fountain. It makes viewers feel in sync with him turning on the water fountain. On Miguel's blog, I mentioned how I ...

Flash Shot

In order to create a Flash shot, I took a video of a tile on the ceiling. Since Flash shots are usually used in horror movies, I thought the tile with scary looking masks painted on them would be something I could use an example.

Dolly Shot

In order to create a Dolly Shot, I tried to move the camera along as I walked down the hallway so that it could look like the cameras moving through the hallway itself.

Head-On Shot

In order to create a Head-On shot, I tried to come up with how I was going to get action to come directly at the camera, so I decided to roll up a paper ball and throw it at the camera...

Close Shot

In order to create a Close shot, I made sure the subject was shown from the top of the head to the mid-waist. The Trojan statue is close up in the shot and is considerably the main object in the frame taking focus away from whatever is in the background.

Medium Long Shot

In order to create a Medium-Long shot, I made sure my shot was wider than a medium shot, but longer than a wide shot. The trophy case is the subject in the frame and off to the side its angled so that there could be a sense of depth in longitude in the background.

Full Shot

In order to create a Full shot, I took a video of the Trojan statue from head to toe. In the frame, all surroundings could be seen. A long shot is incorporated into the frame.

Medium Shot

In order to create a Medium shot, I took a video of the Trojan statue from the knees up. A medium shot lies between a tight and long shot. Most of the surroundings are visible and the subject is positioned in a way that draws the eye.

Low-Angle Shot

In order to create a Low- Angle shot, I made sure to be at a lower point in the building directly under the flags. I placed the camera on a flat surface facing up towards the flags.

Long Shot

In order to create a Long Shot, I made sure to have an open area where the subject (the girl walking) had clear surroundings for the person watching. The shot captures a girl walking from a distance.

Eye Level Shot

In order to create an Eye Level shot, I placed the camera at about the same height as my head facing the water fountain. Depending on each person's height, the height of a water fountain fluctuates. Considering this, I took a video of the fountain at my height as if you are watching the shot from the sight of the subject. I proceeded to do the same with the following shot of the hallway.

Establishing Shot

In order to create an Establishing shot, I made sure to get the shot in a scenic spot where you could really see the location of Lely High School. The sunrise set a cozy morning mood and the frame was then panned towards the sky.

High Angle Shot

In order to create a High Angle shot, I made sure to take the video from the second floor. I had the camera face down towards Nation's Square and raised the camera higher than usual.

Why I'm taking AICE Media Studies and What I Hope to Get from it

I decided to take AICE Media Studies as an additional class to my AICE Diploma pathway. After taking Tv Production last year and currently this year, I have gained an interest in different forms of media. I figured taking this class would allow me to discover a wider span of media and how exactly it all works.
